Crunchy Butter Toffee
Last week I bought some toffee at the One of a Kind Show. It was delicious, but soon was gone and I found myself lamenting that I hadn't bought more. I decided to try whipping some up myself, and it turned out great. It was really easy to make. Maybe a little too easy. The crunchy, buttery, sweetness is hard to resist.
Oven Roasted Pork Side Ribs
Though I'm more a fan of beef ribs, pork ribs are good too and have the benefit of being cheaper and not taking 5 hours to cook properly. Last week while at the grocery store I saw racks of pork side ribs for cheap, and couldn't pass them up. I adapted my Beef Back Ribs recipe for the pork and they turned out great.
Not so Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes are a good, hearty dinner for fall and winter and if you make a big batch they're also great for leftovers. My problem? I don't really like sloppy or that most recipes use a lot of ketchup. I came up with this recipe that that uses some different ingredients to get sloppy joes that not so sweet or messy.

Though I’m more a fan of beef ribs, pork ribs are good too and have the benefit of being cheaper and not taking 5 hours to cook properly. Since my Beef Back Ribs recipe is the most popular recipe on this site by far, I’ve adapted it for pork ribs. … Continue reading

Well, I got lazy and didn’t recap the last two episodes of MasterChef. But, I’m back at it this week! And so are the home cooks as they face the second team challenge of the competition. This week they took on catering a beach wedding. The theme for the dinner is … Continue reading
The fifth season of MasterChef US premiered last week. I wasn’t planning on writing a recap of the premiere since I find the early audition episodes quite boring – they are super melodramatic and way too full of tears and schlocky sentiment. More time is eaten up by previews of … Continue reading
Banana bread is one of my favourite things to bake. It’s really easy and it makes a great snack, dessert, or breakfast. I usually intend for it to be my breakfast at work for a few mornings when I make it, though the loaf usually doesn’t last very long at … Continue reading
Inn on the Twenty is located in Jordan, Ontario, right in the heart of the Twenty Valley wine country. The area includes the Inn, a spa, a restaurant and the Cave Spring Cellars tasting room. I had heard nothing but good things about the restaurant and on Mother’s Day I got … Continue reading
Cesario’s is in San Francisco, located just North-East of Union Square. It’s a traditional Italian restaurant and I assume they get a fair share of their business from people going to the theatres nearby. The interior is cozy, with closely spaced tables, and the atmosphere is nice. Our servers were very … Continue reading
It’s finally time to finish up my posts from my trip to California this fall. After visiting Napa, Sonoma, and Monterey, the last leg of our trip took us to San Francisco. We drove up to the city, dropped the car off and made our way to the hotel. We … Continue reading
